Note the plurality in the title word of this article. The “S”. This usage of the plural comes from the following Scripture. Mat. 28:19. “Go you therefore and teach ALL NATIONS! Baptizing them in the NAME of the Father, the [name] of the Son, and the [name] of the Holy Spirit.” I bracketed the word “name” above, because of the following. As should be evident, the use of the word name in this Scripture is the reason that Sunday observing churches believe in the “trinity doctrine”. The name of the Father being Shadday/Almighty. The name of the son being Yehoshua/Jesus. And the name of the Holy Spirit being……..? I forget just what Scripture says the Holy Spirit’s name really is???? In the New Testament Gospel accounts, Jesus speaks of his Father and himself a hundred or so times. Always showing their close relationship. At the same time, I have found no references to the Holy Spirit being referred to in said references. One would think that if it is indeed a three way relationship, the Holy Spirit would at least be referred to on occasions, if nothing else. But no! Consider a couple of references to this two way relationship. Mat. 10:30. “I and my Father are ONE.” Also, V.38. “…Believe the works. That you may know that the Father is in me, and I in Him.” Think on those words. If the Spirit is a separate being, then that would mean that “he” is the one in the Father, and at the same time “he” is the one that is in the Son. Doesn’t this seem to make it impossible for the Holy Spirit to be a separate being? And I want to point out again that there are no Scriptures saying that the Holy Spirit is a separate being. Let’s look into Strong’s Concordance to see what it has to say, and how the overall view of the use of “name” in Mat. 28:19 should be viewed. Some emphasis is mine. #3686. “From a presumed derivative of the base of #1097. (compare #3685). A name (lit. or fig.) [AUTHORITY, CHARACTER]:- called (+sur) name (-ed).” #3085. “A prolific form of an apparent VERB. [or] For which another prolific form [mine: name] is used as an alterate in some tenses, [unless of NOTORIETY]. To GRATIFY; to DERIVE PLEASURE, or ADVANTAGE FROM: -have joy.” The above is not all that easy to grasp, but in no spot does it seem that the word “NAME” in Mat. 28:19 is being referred to as a noun. #1097. “A prolific form of a VERB. To know (absolutely) in a great variety of applications.” It goes on to list different usages, that do not offer support for viewing the word “name” being a noun. Part One ends here. Part One ended with the mentioning that Part Two would begin with a more knowledgeable understanding of how Rev. 28:19 should read. Rev. 28:19. “Go you therefore and teach ALL NATIONS. Baptising them into the ROLE of the Father, and the [role] of the Son, and the [role] of the Holy Spirit.” Note that, each of the above three “roles” are of necessity, in order for one to receive eternal life. Step by step. Let’s look at each role as it refers to said salvation. The Father is referred to first, thus salvation begins with Him and his actions. The Father’s ROLE is to “CALL people to His Son”. Said means of calling being the total immersion of ones body in water. The beginning of the “S” in Baptisms. And it should be noted that basically, almost all Israelites living in Judea in those days were “Baptised”, and as well, any number of Israelites living outside of said area, who came to visit, may also have been totally immersed. But note that said total immersion baptism only allowed the Holy Spirit to “be WITH someone”. The Son is mentioned secondly. What would his ROLE have been? Well, it would have been the duty to “choose from among the majority”, a few to work with and for him in the command to “go to ALL NATIONS”. And how was it that said role was shown. Well, just as the Fathers role was to “totally immerse” ones body in water, so was it the Sons role to “immerse in water” those that he would be CHOOSING. However, it was only the “immersing of the feet” in water, which Jesus did the evening of the evening before his death. It was with the baptizing of immersing the feet in water, that allowed the Holy Spirit to “be UPON someone”. Note that, even though the Holy Spirit was not upon the disciples at the time of their foot washing, this does not mean that the Holy Spirit was within them. For it was not. Not until they had the “laying on of hands” placed upon them, by those given the right to do said laying on of hands. In other words, as Christ later laid his hands upon his disciples, thus giving them the Holy Spirit within them, so also, those that the apostles laid their hands upon also would then have the Holy Spirit within them. Keep in mind that this was the beginning. They still had to live their lives in a manner that said Holy Spirit would remain within. I will take the time to show how the three methods of Baptism were played out in the Old Testament. If you recall, God had Moses see to it that a “Tent/Temple” was built. Said tent had two rooms, each of which was a separate entity. The outer room was the Holy Place, and the inner room the Holy of Holies. Before the Tent was a courtyard. It was here that the animal offerings were made, and other like practices. As we see, there were “three parts” to this tent of meeting. And, each part is pictured in the “Baptisms” of the New Testament. Let’s begin with the following Scripture. Lev, 8:6. “And Moses brought Aaron and his sons and WASHED them with water.” Consider that Moses was “baptizing” them, so that they could begin their duties as “priests”. But what was it that Moses did, as it pertains to said baptism? #7364. “To LAVE (the whole, or a part of a thing).” To put it another way, Moses totally “bathed” them in water. But, note that said total immersion only left them one opportunity. That was to enter into the “outer court” before the tent/temple. Or, it was simply their “choosing”. However, there was before the outer room a site where Aaron and his sons could “wash/immerse” their feet. Thus allowing them to enter into the Holy Place. With the Holy Spirit WITH them. Enough on the OT baptisms. And in conclusion. As of today, only those that have the Holy Spirit within them will be a part of the resurrection when Christ comes to the earth to begin his thousand year reign. Those that have the Holy Spirit “upon” them will, apparently, have to await the time period of the “second resurrection. And it should be pointed out that in the “outer room” where the Holy Spirit was only upon them, there is the Lampstand. Which pictures the seven churches of today. Thus, this was also where those that have the Holy Spirit within them were left, when Jesus entered into the inner room. So, there may be some, or many (not all by any means) of those in the seven churches that also have said Holy Spirit within them.
