 CHRISTIANS OBJECT TO CHRISTMAS! “…. followers of Jesus Christ in America and England helped pass laws making it illegal to observe Christmas, believing it was an insult to God to honor a day associated with ancient paganism,…Most Americans …are unaware that Christmas was banned in Boston from 1659 to 1681.” (“Shocked by the Bible“, Thomas Nelson Inc, 2008). CHRISTMAS BANNED IN 1647 “…the Protestant Reformation of the sixteenth-century…Reformers… condemned Christmas as being…much too popish…So the seven-teenth-century English Protestants wound up passing laws banning Christmas. Shops had to stay open, and Parliament deliberately met on that day. The Puritans of England banned Christmas in 1647, and the Puritans of New England followed suit. It was outlawed in Boston from 1659 to 1681, and in the Plymouth colony William Bradford made celebrating Christmas a criminal offense.” (“Once Upon a Gospel“, William J. MORE FROM PURITANS Puritans from England who founded the Massachusetts Bay Colony (1620), had contempt for Christmas and kept their shops and schools open and churches closed on Christmas, a holiday they termed “Foolstide.” NOTHING BUT THE BIBLE Puritans taught society should not legislate what violates the Bible’s clear record. Noting that the Bible nowhere mentions celebrating the Nativity, and that Christmas was just a pagan custom Catholics adopted with no Biblical basis for it. They taught it had nothing to do with Christianity, but only the winter solstice Saturnalia, and no scriptures mention a season or a day, that marked the birth of Jesus. (https://www.history.com/…/when-massachusetts-banned…) SCRIPTURE: THE ANCIENT RECORD Sometime between 586-538 B.C.E., Jeremiah, described a pagan custom we now call a “Christmas tree”: “Learn not the ways of the heathen…For the customs of the people are vain: For one cuts a tree out of the forest, …with the axe…they deck it with silver and…gold;…fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not. They are upright as the palm tree…Be not afraid of them…” (Jer. 10:1-5). STILL MORE FACTS: “…within the Christian Church no such festival as Christmas was ever heard of till the third century, and… not till the fourth century was far advanced did it gain much observance…”. AND “…in the Fifth Century…the Roman Catholic Church commanded that the birth of Christ be observed…on December 25th-the day of the…Roman feast of the birth of Sol-one of the names of the sun-god…whose birth was popular among…Mithraism… The…pagan religious cult which fostered the celebration of December 25 as a holiday…’” (“Babylon Mystery Religion,” Ralph Woodrow, p. 163) WHICH DO YOU BELIEVE?
