| “And the second beast required all people, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their forehead, so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of its name” (Revelation 13:16-17). There is much speculation over what this future Mark of the Beast will be. The fear of being deceived into taking this mark has caused needless anxiety for Christians and students of Bible prophecy. Why? Because anyone who receives the mark of the Beast will partake of God’s wrath. See Revelation 14:9-11. Whatever that future mark may turn out to be, it will be tied to some kind of worldwide monetary system for buying and selling. But it also will be a symbol of worship of the Beast which is why Christians must avoid it to stay loyal to the true God. This, then, will create problems for any faithful Christians in participating in any legal and approved marketing system. How will Christians be able to survive unless they live in an Amish community? This future Beast system of buying and selling will come about by flattery and deceit. Notice Daniel 11:32: “With flattery he will corrupt those against God’s covenant. But those who know God will firmly resist him and do exploits.” The world’s reserve currency is presently the U.S. dollar. It bears God’s name with the motto, “In God We Trust.” A future world currency whether digital or physical will likely give praise to the Beast or Antichrist. This will entail a type of worship which breaks God’s covenant. How will Christians be able to resist this future monetary system if we can’t buy or sell? By having gold or silver as a backup currency as many are promoting? By having a horde of survival food? Gold and food may be helpful, but they don’t require knowing God for survival and may attract unwanted visitors. How did God provide for Elijah? How did Jesus feed the multitude? How did God provide for the Israelites in the wilderness? Did God send the Israelites a semi-truck load of Wonder Bread [aka “manna” which means, “I wonder what this is”] each day for them to make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches? If you know God, then you know the answer. So, if you don’t buy five tons of survival food or collect hundreds of gold coins, will God be able to take care of you when the future Beast system prohibits you from buying and selling? What do you believe God will do? As all of you know, there has been much talk about a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) eventually replacing our present cash system. This will eliminate financial privacy since a central digital ledger will control all transactions. This future digital ledger is pictured in Zechariah 5:1-4 with the vision of the flying scroll. If it is administered and controlled by the Federal Reserve, then it will probably be a step toward the Mark of the Beast which will be a European controlled digital currency that will arise after the collapse of the U.S. economy. What President Trump, after his inauguration, will be able to do to curtail Washington’s out-of-control government spending will determine America’s fate. With a House divided between Republicans and Democrats there will probably be some ugly battles over any budget or tax cuts. This is the Achilles’ heel of any democratic form of government. It can hinder any swift action that may be necessary to avoid a financial crisis when time is of the essence. This is what caused the Roman Republic to put total control under Julius Caesar which eventually turned Rome from a republic to an empire with the Roman Emperor eventually worshipped as a god. It will also signal that we are getting closer to the time of Jacob’s trouble. But not to fear. “What then shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31). “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will surely help you; I will uphold you with My righteous right hand” (Isaiah 41:10). Nothing to fear, folks. God is with us!!!
