Johnny Bravo – Church of God

Simon Sinek, author of “Why Leaders Eat Last?”, tells the story of Johnny Bravo. Johnny is a pilot who put his life at risk to protect his men on the ground who had come under heavy fire in Afghanistan. Simon Sinek then asks the question: “Where do people like Johnny Bravo come from?” Simon then launches into a detailed explanation of the chemicals produced in our bodies which affect our feelings. It is important to understand what actions produce these chemicals. Here they are: Endorphins, Dopamine, Serotonin, and Oxytocin. Simon explains how Serotonin is the leadership chemical and what actions stimulate it within us. Though Simon uses some evolutionary explanations of how we developed these chemicals, it is obvious to Christians that God put these chemicals within us to help us to develop a closer relationship with God and with each other. God made us to be social creatures. We have a strong need to be in a relationship with our Creator and with those whom we consider to be important in our social network of friends and family. These chemicals allow us to have the same feelings that God feels. As we come into the Autumn season of God’s Holy Days, the fellowship, and emotions that we share with others will invoke many good feelings and lasting memories. Psalm 133:1: “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!” I encourage you to take the time to listen to Simon’s inspiring and sometimes funny discourse on what makes us tick as humans formed in the image and likeness of God. Knowing how our actions and beliefs affect our emotions will help us to better serve others to the glory of God. The insight found in this video will help us to better understand ourselves and the truth of God’s Word. Simon also explains how email is not always the best means for communicating with others.
