The Apostles of old were authoritatively told To bear witness of Jesus’ life. He warned them that they would often encounter Much hatred, debate, and strife. The words they would speak would be in His name By such power He would confirm. They would raise the dead and heal many sick And strengthen the poor and infirm. Out of the synagogues they would be cast And be held in low esteem. They would not receive tithes for a lavish lifestyle But would live lives low and lean. No gold, nor silver, nor brass, would be theirs No extra coat, shoes, or staves. As sheep among wolves, they would venture along Upon many uncharted paths. The Spirit alone would show them the way As before Kings they surely would come. To speak so boldly the name Jesus Christ And repentance of sins must be done. No honors, awards, nor prestige would be theirs As unashamedly they would be bold. Compare the lives of men of today With Jesus’ Disciples of old!
