Fat cats, fat cats on faculty row, Don’t you see the fruits of the seeds you sow? One tithe, two tithes, three tithes… four? “Put your heart in the work and send us some more!” Salaries, expense accounts, service well spent. Never mind the little ones whose lives you’ve rent. “We are the head, you are the tail, Keep the money flowing, how can we fail?” “Be good little Christians and close your eyes. Sing your little songs and pay your three tithes. Don’t have an opinion and don’t make a fuss, Just hop on aboard and leave the driving to us!” (This poem has been updated and re-printed from “The Church of God Messenger” September/October 2001—Issue No. 5.) |
