David said in Psalms 139:13, Amplified, “For You did form my inward parts. You did knit me together in my mother’s womb.” Why have so many unborn lives become like unraveled knitting? $254.4 million in 2002-03 from taxpayers Since 1973, the Roe v Wade decision has generated approximately 46 million abortions totally or around 1.3 million abortions each year since that time. Up until about forty years ago, the 2000-year-old Hippocratic Oath led medical school graduates to say at their commencement, “I will maintain the utmost respect for human life from the time of conception.” The sanctity of human life is the Judeo-Christian world view. The original document of the Hippocratic Oath now states the above sentence minus the words, “from the time of conception.” May God help us as a nation for legally confusing such a basic tenet of our civilization. Because abortion on demand is legal throughout the nation, does that make it right? No! It never has and never will. Does a woman’s “right to privacy” triumph over an unborn child’s right to life? Do you know what the three types of abortion are? (Dismemberment Abortion, Suction Abortion and Prostaglandin Abortion) Is the embryo simply an extension of the mother’s body, or is it something separate and uniquely irreplaceable? Is an unborn baby merely an extension of the woman of which couldn’t even exist without the man’s seed? After conception, just leave that fertilized seed alone, and it will develop into a human being unless some outside force destroys its life. Because you know biblical values, do you value human life as unique and worthy of protection and love? Our society must continue to rest upon its Judeo-Christian base. Otherwise, we must settle for humanism which makes man the measure and center of all things. Humanism has resulted in a secularized society that trashes the Bible and puts man as having started from himself, discounting the words, “In the beginning, God . . . ” As a Christian, have you taken the name of the Lord in vain? Yes, if you have allowed choice and expediency to become idolatry between you and God and what He says in His Word. Have you been listening to the voice of the world, the flesh, or the devil instead of laying aside “busyness” long enough to hear that “still, small voice of God?” If human beings can live by their own inclinations, why not just wad up our prayer life and throw it in the garbage. Has our humanness been lost in the devaluation of human life all around us? Is it possible for one to be called of God before birth? If not, then, we’ll have to conveniently dismiss the life of the prophet Jeremiah to whom God said, “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you. Before you were born, I sanctified you. I ordained you a prophet to the nations.” (Jeremiah 1:5) What about John, the Baptist? The voice of Mary, the mother of Jesus, sounded her greeting in the presence of Elizabeth, John the Baptist’s mother. Elizabeth, who was carrying John in her womb, responded, “the babe leaped in my womb for joy.” Now, filled with the Holy Spirit, Elizabeth prophesied to Mary, “Blessed is she who believed, for there will be a fulfillment of those things which were told her from the Lord.” Then, Mary, also set free to prophesy, begins to sing! Are you worried about the child sacrifice of abortion going on today in the name of sensuality and convenience? What are the results of this dehumanization by legalized abortion-on-demand which, as a nation, we have sanctioned through our U. S. Supreme Court? Child abuse just keeps on growing and has dramatically increased every year since 1973 when abortion became legal. What inhumane treatment of a child or children will flood across our newspapers tomorrow? Because women, married and un-married, have offered their children to destruction, death, and the ultimate form of child abuse through abortion, the Lord offers His forgiveness. Instead of dwelling on the past and trying to sort it all out, simply take a step forward into a right relationship with Jesus Christ. Enter into the peace and rest that comes in our serving Him and in joy and strength to carry out the calling He has given us in absolute dependence upon Him. Abortion can be a stumbling block in our lives. That stumbling block can become a steppingstone into a deeper knowledge of Him when we let the God of all forgiveness, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, take His rightful place of being our all in all. |
