If I understand it correctly, your articles seem to talk about the Hebrew calendar as if it was the one given to Moses (Gen. 1:14). The current Hebrew calendar was introduced by Hillel back in the 300s AD. If you do the research, you will find that during Temple times during the time of Messiah, they were observing the new moon crescent. The Jews today admit that there are issues with their calendar which they expect a new Sanhedrin to correct: Jerusalem Post article March 20, 2017, by Adam Eliyahu Berkowitz check it out. The Rabbi’s conclusion is that even with their errors Jews have to go along with it? Acts 5:29 |

First of all, I could not find the article you spoke of here. It is better if you either send the whole article or the link to the article so I can take a look at it. If you do the research in your bible, you will see that every holy day date on the current Hebrew calendar can be proven from scripture. Also read Maimonides which is posted on the front page of our old website. It clearly speaks of the moon sightings as being proof that the calendar calculations they were using at the time of Christ were correct. In other words, at the time of Christ they were using calculations to set the calendar by and only using the moon sightings to make sure their calculations were correct. Also, Hillel did not invent the Hebrew calendar or its calculations. All Hillel did was to make the calendar calculations public so all the Jews would be keeping the holy days at the same time. The church of God is in chaos in regard to this point. Most seem to believe that as long as they keep the holy days even if they have the date wrong it is okay with God. So, if you keep the Sabbath on Thursday does God accept that? Of course not, because He said the Sabbath is on Saturday the seventh day of the week. So why would God accept people keeping different holy days than He has told us to keep in scripture? The Hebrew calendar doesn’t have errors, it is like all calendars. All calendars lose some amount of time over time so there have to be adjustments made to every calendar or eventually certain days that were in the summer could migrate into the fall or winter over time. Even people who do not believe the Hebrew Calendar is the right calendar still comment that it is the most accurate calendar there ever has been. When they are able at some point to convene a new Sanhedrin, they will adjust the Hebrew Calendar to bring it back in line with actual time. They are not going to be adjusting moon sightings which are just that moon sightings. Moon sightings and picking around for barley are not calendars. They may be components of calendars, of how calendars are adjusted, but they are not calendars. God only has one set of holy day dates and if you are not keeping the right holy day dates then you are not keeping God’s Law and you will end up not being in the first fruits resurrection. That may be harsh but look around you, at the who knows how many calendars, floating around the churches of God and prove that your made-up calendar is the same one that was kept at the time of Christ. The Hebrew Calendar can be proven to have been kept at the time of Christ. The Bible is the main source of that proof and then you go to outside documents after that as backup proof. Send me the link to your article and I will look at it. |

Okay, so Rafael sent me the link I asked for. It is below: https://laodiceantimes.com/articles/Why%20Hebrew%20Calendar%20Is%20Wrong.html I read the article, and it is not accurate, and the author Adam Eliyahu Berkowitz is the senior reporter for Israel 365 News. I am not sure if he is a Jew or not, but the Rabbi mentioned in the article is a Zionist who does not live in Israel. Orthodox Jews and Zionists are on two opposite sides of the spectrum. In other words, they oppose each other. There are many sects of the Jews, even at the time of Christ. The only Jews Christ ever endorsed were the Pharisees which are today the Orthodox Jews. In the article is found the following statement: The modern Jewish calendar was set according to a 19-year cycle with an additional month added seven times during that cycle. Even with this correction, the Hebrew calendar falls behind the actual lunar cycle at the rate of one day every 216 years. As a result, the established calendar is now out of sync with the lunar cycles. If that statement were true, then there is no way the full moon would ever show up on Passover/1st Day of Unleavened Bread or on the first day of the Feast of Tabernacles. And yet it continues to show up every year for those Holy Days. If that statement would be true, which it is not we would be running almost ten days behind on all Annual Holy Days. Yes, the Hebrew Calendar does need to be adjusted very soon but that will not happen until there is a new temple and a new temple will not be built until the 1000-year millennium. Even in the temple at the time of Christ the moon sightings were only used to make sure their calendar calculations were correct. The Hebrew Calendar we have today is set by Tishri One and not by a moon before or after the equinox or when they find barley. No, it is set by Tishri One. On Tishri One there is a 0 to 2-day slide because the full moon has to show up on Passover/First Day of Unleavened Bread and also on the first day of the Feast of Tabernacles. When you use only moon sightings those full moons are not going to show up on the holy days except on a rare occasion. The biggest problem I see with the Hebrew Calendar is that most people have never taken the time to study it and even when they do study it they have a tendency to dismiss it because of all the bad things the other sects of the jews have to say about it or they themselves hate jews. That hatred of Jews comes out in many articles I see come across my desk, that are written by people in the Church of God. Please remember the Jews are your brethren and their sin is no greater than the sins of the other tribes of which you are most likely a part of. |

As far as who is going to be in the first resurrection or not is not up to any of us! Regarding the calendar, in my 19 1/2 years with WCG at least 3 times “Passover” services had to be cancelled because of snow/icy roads back in N J. How is that for keeping a Holy Day in the Spring? If you lived in warmer climate this would not be an issue or even in the minds of those who were keeping the “Last Supper” and called it “Passover. I don’t recall making this point before here but for Yahshua to hold a Passover service would be violating His own Law, the sacrifices were to be done in the Temple, and nowhere in the OT or NT is there any mention of a change to the timing of Passover. Many ministers use Paul’s statement in: 1 Cor.11:23 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: 24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. 25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. This New Testament covenant required a Blood Sacrifice. When was that? Not that night! He had to do it this way because He would be in the grave on Passover. 26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord’s death till he come. When did He die? not that night and you cannot keep a memorial until after the fact not before. There was only one official Passover that year and even before He was born while in the womb, His Mother was keeping the Passover along with the other Jews and like I said, the timing just like the Sabbath has not changed. I guess we have to wait for the Two witnesses to come and be the authority most people will accept. I don’t have to wait for that, I believe to be on the right side of the fence on this. |
